Aaron Cole releases new version of viral anthem with Jonathan McReynolds and Tenroc

Christian hip-hop artist Aaron Cole has released "usher in the spirit again," a new version of his viral track featuring gospel singer Jonathan McReynolds and producer Tenroc. The remix is out now on all major streaming platforms.

The song grew out of a clip Cole posted that generated millions of views, video stitches, verse challenges, likes and comments from fans and artists across genres. That clip led to the original song and music video for "usher in the spirit" with Tenroc. The new remix adds McReynolds to the lineup.

The track is a fusion of two familiar pieces: the song "Revelation 19:1" and the 1990s melodic hooks from Usher's "You Make Me Wanna…". Cole, McReynolds, and Tenroc each contribute their own verses and spin on the material. The three artists recorded together in New York, with Tenroc handling production in the studio.

Cole said the response to the original clip surprised him and reinforced what the song is about. "When the original clip started blowing up, I knew this was a powerful reminder of how God's presence and music continue to inspire us and can change things in new and greater ways," he said. "No matter what we all may be facing, God's grace and love is always there for us. He renews our spirits fresh every day."

Cole has been performing live around the country and is scheduled to appear on the 41st Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards show. The ceremony takes place at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina on August 15. The broadcast premieres on The Stellar Network on August 29 at 8 pm ET, with an encore at 10 pm ET. It premieres on BET on August 30 at 8 pm ET and 10:30 pm ET. Additional syndicated broadcasts air in September.

Cole's career started young. He began his musical journey at age 3 and released his first independent album at age 4. He caught the attention of Christian music artist TobyMac, which led to a signing with Gotee Records at age 15.

His catalog includes three number one hit singles on Billboard Christian charts, two Dove Awards, and a Stellar Award nomination. In 2019, his debut album "Not By Chance" made him the first Christian hip-hop artist to win the Dove Award for New Artist of the Year. His second album was "Two Up Two Down."

2024 was a busy year for the artist. He released his third full-length album "Sorry, I Changed," the deluxe version "Sorry, I Changed (Again)," and a three-song EP called "OMARI," named for his newborn son. In 2025, he released the EP "Where Do We Go From Here?" and joined Terrian on her The Big God Tour. He also received a Dove Award nomination for "Sorry, I Changed (Again)" and appeared on singles with xander., Timbaland, Tenroc, Leeland, Isaac Mansfield, and gio.

His music has been featured on ESPN, Fox Sports, and the Netflix series "On My Block."
