Doctor and gospel artist Mikey Adebayo releases new single “The Upper Room

Mikey Adebayo is a doctor at the NHS and a gospel singer-songwriter from London. His new single, “The Upper Room,” is out now on major streaming platforms.

The track is inspired by the biblical account in the Book of Acts, when the disciples gathered in the Upper Room before the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Adebayo wrote the song after reflecting on revival and how believers might invite the Holy Spirit to move today. The lyrics focus on waiting, unity, prayer, surrender, and expectation, the posture that preceded the Pentecost event.

Adebayo said he wants the song to serve as a soundtrack for personal devotion and corporate fellowship, encouraging believers to cultivate a deeper hunger for God’s presence.

“I am Mikey Adebayo, a singer-songwriter from London. I am also a doctor whose profession and music combine in fulfilling my purpose of being a source of hope and healing to anyone who comes across me,” he said.

The release follows a growing catalogue of faith-centred music from Adebayo, including “Prayer Power,” “Gbadura,” and “I Must Go.” His previous work has explored themes of prayer, faith, spiritual transformation, perseverance, and the presence of God.

Adebayo’s musical journey began at age 11 when he joined his church choir and started learning the guitar. Growing up in the church, he has served in various worship capacities over the years, including praise and worship leader, guitarist, and backing vocalist.

In 2023, he shifted from primarily serving through live ministration and performance to creating music for audiences beyond his immediate church community. “The Upper Room” continues that transition, combining his passion for worship with a message about spiritual hunger for revival.

The song is a call to return to the place of prayer and expectation, to seek God, welcome His presence, and believe again for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
